As a facility operator, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment is critical for the well-being of your customers, patrons and employees. When selecting disinfecting, surface sanitizing, or hand sanitizing products, it’s vital to choose the right wipe for the job.
- For facility, equipment, or surface disinfecting, choose DISINFECTING wipes
- For kitchen surface sanitizing, choose SURFACE SANITIZING wipes
- For hand sanitizing, choose HAND SANITIZING wipes
Protect the well-being of your guests, customers, and employees by encouraging them to use towelettes that are right for the purpose.
For Surface Disinfecting or Sanitizing, use EPA Registered Towelettes
Disinfection of equipment and other surfaces should only be done with EPA Registered disinfecting wipes. Disinfectants have kill claims for specific bacteria, viruses, and/or fungi. When choosing a disinfectant wipe, understand which pathogens are of most concern in your type of facility, then check your disinfectant label for those pathogens. For example, common bacteria found in gyms and other athletic facilities might include Athlete’s Foot, Staph, and MRSA. You’ll want your disinfectant to kill these pathogens.
2XL’s line of EPA Registered Disinfecting Wipes eradicate a variety of harmful pathogens found in fitness environments and other types of buildings and spaces. GymWipes® Antibacterial Fast 4 disinfecting wipes are effective against 46 distinct pathogens; 2XL FORCE2® Disinfecting Wipes are effective against 51 unique pathogens; and Antibacterial Force® Wipes are effective against 49 pathogens.
It’s important to educate your clients and customers on the importance of wiping down equipment with a disinfecting wipe after each use, and to implement a daily cleaning schedule for housekeeping staff to ensure all surfaces are regularly disinfected. Train them to NOT use hand sanitizing wipes for disinfecting or surface sanitizing, rather use EPA Registered towelettes.
For Hand Sanitizing, use only FDA approved Hand Sanitizing Wipes
FDA approved hand sanitizing towelettes typically remove 99.9% of germs on hands and/or skin, but they can’t and don’t claim to kill any one specific pathogen. Many hand sanitizing wipes are formulated with conditioners or other ingredients appropriate for hands and skin but not other surfaces. 2XL Mega Roll Hand Sanitizing Wipes and Advantage® Hand Sanitizing Wipes are examples of such products, formulated to be gentle on skin, with no harsh chemicals.
Hand sanitizing towelettes are appropriate for hand sanitizing only. They should never be used for surface sanitizing or disinfecting.
Get Ahead of Germs
Every year there are breakouts of certain illnesses and diseases. Seasonal illnesses like colds and flu are caused by viruses like Influenza A virus and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). We recommend staying ahead of the curve by keeping up with reports that emphasize the prevalence of certain pathogens. Sources like this from the CDC website detail the rise of norovirus outbreaks, for example, underscoring the critical importance of robust cleaning and disinfecting measures, with special attention paid to “high-touch surfaces.” Again, always check your disinfectant label for specific pathogen kill claims and directions.
Don’t Cut Corners with Cheaper Wipes
Some wipe manufacturers produce smaller and/or thinner wipes to offer cheaper alternatives to customers. We caution skimping on quality when it comes to disinfecting. The quality of wipes you offer is a reflection on your brand reputation. Prioritize effectiveness and reliability in a wipe over cost-cutting for all the reasons mentioned in this article. Your customers and patrons will thank you for it.
Choose Your Wipe Wisely
Hand wipes are for hands only. For facility disinfection and pathogen protection, use Disinfecting Wipes. For kitchen surface sanitizing, use Surface Sanitizing Towelettes. Proper disinfecting and sanitizing will demonstrate your commitment to cleanliness, health and safety, and will ensure that your facility stands out as a leader in hygiene and customer wellness.
